History – a journey through the decade
Since 2009, Segula and its partner have been continuously developing new innovations and designs for the LED market. And all of this to the highest quality standards.
2009
- Launch of the first LED light source in the form of an original incandescent bulb
- SMD technology: SMD chips mounted on a circuit board at a 90° angle. Advantage over other manufacturers: better beam angle and cooling.
2010
100% dimmability of LED light sources in the bulb shape
2011
First fully dimmable LED light source with 1055 lumens
2013
Introduction of the ‘Ambiente’ light color with 2200 Kelvin.
2014
A groundbreaking innovation in hard-filament technology enables an optimal approximation of the classic tungsten filament.
2015
Complete switch from SMD to filament technology and increase in CRI to 90.
2016
- First presentation of the flexible filament! The new silicone-based material opens up completely new design possibilities!
- Launch of the ‘Smokey Line’ and the ‘Golden Line’.
- Introduction of “Ambient Dimming” technology Introduction of S14 linear lamps.
2017
- Further development of the soft filament: built-in heat sinks enable a significantly higher lumen output whilst maintaining temperature limits.
- New concept for the flexible Art Line filament. No more glass bodies; artistic freedom enables completely new, extravagant designs!
- Introduction of the “BIG BULBS” with E40 base.
2018
- Ceramic filament revolution in thermal conductivity! Up to 4000 lumens at 5600 Kelvin daylight color are now possible.
- Introduction of “Flower” and “Beer Bulb”
- Increase in CRI to up to 95
2019
Introduction of “Ambient Dimming” technology in a flexible LED filament – Soft Filament Ambient Dimming! You can’t get more like incandescent bulbs than this. Changing light color when dimming.
2020
Delicate soft filament in a revolutionary Floating design – the new Floating series is launched!
2021
The Soft Filament is further developed to meet new requirements and regulations.
2022
Further development of the LED range (technical innovations, expansion of the 24-volt range, expansion of the outdoor range).
2023
With light sources similar in appearance to those of the Floating series, the new Illusion series creates fascinating light reflections in the glass thanks to its wafer-thin filaments.
2024
- The Floating series is complemented by stylish new glass colors (billiard) and drinking glass shapes.
- The upgraded Art Line 2.0 opens up new possibilities with its delicate and flexible light strip.
2025
- New filaments in tried-and-tested glass shapes – the wafer-thin filament of the Elegant Line is virtually invisible when viewed from a distance.
- The flame shape of the Flame Line mimics the unmistakably gentle movements of a natural flame.
2026
- The Floating Line is expanding: new materials such as bamboo and metal are being used, redefining the use of light and materials.
- The bell-shaped Floating captivates with its metallic sheen.
- The Floating Ripple enchants with its textured glass surface.
Why do we do all this?
Quite simply: the focus is on continuous development and inventive spirit. Standing still is a step backwards – that’s not an option, and it hasn’t been since the invention of the LED light source! Furthermore, at SEGULA, our vision is to leave an intact environment for the next generation through environmentally friendly and resource-efficient production. This includes using eco-friendly and recyclable materials, minimising the use of toxic chemicals, and, of course, the efficiency of SEGULA LED light sources. Low power consumption, long lifespan and maximum light output. We’ve made this our mission, and we stick to it!
